Daniel Halden Fitzpatrick
Chicago based photographer
I started to become very curious about photography at an early age and began to self-train myself in my high school's darkroom where I fell in love with traditional black & white processing and the mechanics of a camera. At the time I had no idea how much of an impact that darkroom would have on my life. Curious about the possibilities of photography, I came to Chicago in 2005 to study at Columbia College of Chicago where I received my BA in photography. After graduation I began to connect with some of Chicago's professional photographers with whom I began to assist for and learn from.
With great dedication, I began to take on my own clients and the rest is history. Currently specializing in product and food photography in Chicago, IL. I am very diverse and well experienced in many fields of photography. With this experience, my love for studio photography has grown into a full-time passion.
I consider myself very lucky to be able to work daily with a camera in my hand. I come from an area where art was never really taught to be a career option but more of a hobby. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t have a smile on my face, thankful for the beautiful life that I am able to live.
Chicago's only public black & white darkroom dedicated to providing a facility for traditional photographers of all skill sets.
Over the past 3 years we have drastically rebranded Music Direct. Working on projects from advertising to catalogs I have photographed over 600 product for Music Direct. With a great deal of work and direction/collaboration from Art Directors and their creative teams alike, we have set new industry standards for imagery and are dedicated to continue to raise the bar for years to come.
I began assisting for photographer Richard Izui in 2012. Richard is an extremely experienced and veteran Chicago photographer who was one of seven contract photographers for Playboy for 34 years and has continued on to work for many clients ranging from Groupon, Coke, McDonalds and many more. His impressive experience in automobile, fashion and product photography was something I aspired to early when working with the studio. Richard eventually turned into a mentor of mine and has since taught me a great deal about studio photography and running a professional business. Since starting as a second assistant to Richard I have slowly become one of the studio's associate photographers. It is with a great deal of pride that I get to call this studio part of my family now. Richard and his families dedication to the craft of photography is something I will always respect them for.
